Our Values

At St Leonards Primary School, we are proud to be a values-driven community. Our core values - Respect, Responsibility, and Resilience, guide everything we do and help shape a safe, supportive, and high-achieving learning environment for all students.

  • Respect means treating others with kindness, listening actively, allowing others to learn, and celebrating the diversity in our school community.

  • Responsibility is about making positive choices, being accountable for our actions, and taking care of ourselves, others, and our environment.

  • Resilience is about having a growth mindset, bouncing back from challenges, learning from mistakes, and continuing to try even when things feel difficult.

These values aren’t just words on a wall, they are actively lived and taught across all aspects of school life. Through our School-Wide Positive Behaviour Support (SWPBS) approach, students are explicitly taught what these values look like in action. Whether in the classroom, on the playground, or during transitions and school events, our Expectation Matrix helps students understand and consistently demonstrate these behaviours.

We also celebrate students who show our values through a variety of acknowledgement systems, including Class Dojo points, certificates, and value awards presented at assemblies. These positive reinforcements help students feel recognised, motivated, and connected to our school culture.

By embedding our values in both teaching and daily routines, we ensure that every child at St Leonards Primary School is supported to grow as a respectful, responsible and resilient learner who is prepared for lifelong learning and success.

We look forward to welcoming your family to our school community, where values and learning go hand in hand.
