School Wide Positive Behaviour

St Leonards Primary School values of Respect, Responsibility and Resilience are upheld by the implementation of our Positive Behaviour Matrix, which is an expectation for everybody within our school community.

The School Wide Positive Behaviour Matrix is what we expect of our students in our community, and at school. It provides clear expectations and a common language that parents can use at home to support our students in becoming respectful, responsible and resilient members of the St Leonards community.

At St Leonards Primary School, we are committed to creating a safe, calm, and supportive learning environment where all students can thrive. To help our students stay focused and engaged in their learning, we use a simple and supportive strategy called the 4R Process.

This approach is designed to gently refocus students when needed and is never about punishment, it's about guiding students to make positive choices and remain on task to complete their learning to the best of their ability.

Throughout the day, teachers consistently acknowledge positive behaviours and efforts using Class Dojo points. This helps build a culture where students are recognised for staying on task, showing respect, and contributing to the classroom community.

Sometimes, even with the best intentions, students may need a little extra support to stay focused and that’s completely okay. Our 4R process is a gentle, respectful way to help them do just that. It reinforces the message that every moment is a fresh opportunity to learn, grow, and do their best.

Thank you for your ongoing support in helping our students succeed and thrive!
